What is CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability)?
CSA is FMCSA's safety compliance and enforcement program, which uses inspection, crash and investigation data to measure carriers in seven safety categories called BASICs.
The measurement tool is the Safety Measurement System (SMS). FMCSA uses it to decide which carriers to contact or investigate.
Some SMS results are public, and carriers can ask FMCSA to review data they think is wrong through DataQs.
