Every state now runs FMCSA's three-step DataQs review, with deadlines

What it means for small fleets

FMCSA says all 50 states, D.C. and U.S. territories now use its revised DataQs process for challenging inspection and crash data.

What happened

FMCSA says all 50 states, D.C. and U.S. territories now use its revised DataQs process for challenging inspection and crash data. Initial reviews and reconsiderations must each be decided within 21 days, and final reviews within 45 days.

Why it matters

A wrong entry on your record no longer rests on the officer who wrote it. The issuing officer cannot be the only one to deny a correction, reconsiderations go to independent reviewers, and every decision must explain the evidence reviewed and the next step.

What to consider

Look over your inspection and crash history, and file a request for any entry you believe is wrong. States review requests filed within three years of an inspection or five years of a crash. File a request in DataQs · See your record in DOTView
