Indiana troopers put 85 trucks and 51 drivers out of service in a 3-day patrol
WTHR reports Indiana State Police inspected 501 trucks in a three-day patrol and placed 85 trucks and 51 drivers out of service.
What happened
Indiana State Police commercial vehicle officers inspected 501 trucks during Operation Guardian, a patrol with troopers from 15 other states that ran Oct. 26 to 28, WTHR reports. Officers found 136 violations, and 85 trucks and 51 drivers were placed out of service. The patrol also led to 28 arrests.
Why it matters
ISP said the patrol targeted secondary and bypass routes, so trucks off the main interstates were checked too. ISP says its Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division enforces federal safety rules on trucks, including equipment and hours-of-service checks, new entrant safety audits and compliance reviews. Roadside inspection results feed the FMCSA safety data that brokers and shippers see.
